Anthropic combines chat and document tools into one hub

Anthropic is redesigning its platform, Claude, to act as a single, all-in-one workspace. Instead of forcing you to choose between different specialized tabs—like one for general chatting, one for collaborative coding, or one for design—the company is merging these into one window. You can now chat, create documents, and build slide decks from a single, unified interface. The system is designed to figure out what you need on its own. If you ask it to build a slide presentation, it simply opens the appropriate workspace right inside your current session.

These new features rely on what is essentially an automated assistant that understands the context of your project. When you provide a prompt, the AI does not just return text; it triggers a specialized mode that generates a file, such as a document or a set of slides. These files exist as live, shareable links, much like you would find in common cloud-based office software. The system also includes a memory feature that helps the AI keep track of your previous conversations. This means if you start an outline on your desktop computer, the AI remembers what you were working on, allowing you to check its progress or continue editing from your phone later. By putting all these capabilities in one place, the platform reduces the friction of moving information between different applications.

For a long time, the biggest barrier to using AI for work was the constant need to copy and paste outputs from a chat window into another app. By integrating document and slide creation directly, these companies are moving closer to providing a complete office toolkit.
